Tess Matthews

Board Member

Tess is a lawyer and program manager at Westjustice - a community legal centre in Melbourne’s west. She is passionate about consumer law, economic justice, and digital inclusion. She has worked extensively with migrant communities and currently leads an integrated partnership program providing in-situ legal services at two refugee settlement agencies.


Tess has been a consumer advocate in telecommunications for several years, previously sitting on the Australian Communications and Media Authorities Consumer Consultative Forum, and contributing to numerous submissions on regulatory matters. In 2021, she was a mentee in the inaugural Consumers’ Federation of Australia Mentoring Program.


Tess holds a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of Melbourne and has been a community fellow of the Melbourne Social Equity Institute.
