ACCAN recently submitted to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner’s consultation on the exposure draft of the Privacy (Children’s Online Privacy) Code 2026 (the draft Code). ACCAN supports the objectives of the draft Code, which seeks to strengthen protections for children and young people online.

ACCAN recently submitted to the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Education (the Committee) on the Inquiry into the factors driving educational attainment.

ACCAN has submitted to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC)’s consultation on its draft replacement module determination for NBN Co's second regulatory cycle. 

ACCAN recently submitted to the Australian Communications and Media Authority’s consultation on extending the Customer Service Guarantee (CSG) rules.

ACCAN recently submitted to the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, Sport and the Arts’ consultation on the Mobile Black Spot Program West Coast Tasmania Mobile Capacity Uplift Round – Draft Grant Opportunity Guidelines (the draft Guidelines). ACCAN supports the objectives of the draft Guidelines, which seeks to address ongoing concerns about mobile coverage and congestion across key regions of Tasmania’s West Coast.

ACCAN recently submitted to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) consultation on the proposed application-to-person (A2P) SMS record keeping rules (RKR).

ACCAN recently submitted to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) in response to its consultation on the proposed Wholesale and Networks Record Keeping Rule (Wholesale and Networks RKR).

ACCAN recently submitted to the Australian Telecommunications Alliance’s consultation on Draft Amendment No. 1/2026 to AS/CA S042.1:2025 Requirements for connection to an air interface of a Telecommunications Network— Part 1: General. ACCAN supports the proposed amendment to update references from the National Messaging System to AusAlert to reflect the change to the name of the new cell-broadcast national messaging system.

ACCAN recently submitted to the Environment and Communications Legislation Committee on the Telecommunications Legislation Amendment (Universal Outdoor Mobile Obligation) Bill 2025 (the Bill). Our submission highlights the urgent need to mandate affordable Low Earth Orbit satellite (LEOSat)-compatible devices and plans, to set clear statutory objectives, constrain and guide the currently expansive powers vested in delegated legislation, and to strengthen consumer protections to ensure the Universal Outdoor Mobile Obligation (UOMO) delivers on its promise.

ACCAN recently submitted to the Senate Select Committee on Productivity in Australia (the Select Committee).

ACCAN recently submitted to the Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport References Committee on Rural, regional and remote Medicare access and funding. We argue that reforming the Telecommunications Act 1997 (Cth) to formally recognise telecommunications as an essential service is fundamental to ensuring equitable Medicare-funded telehealth access for regional, rural, and remote Australians.
