Business Reporting Requirements Inquiry

ACCAN recently submitted to the initial stage of the Productivity Commission (the Commission)’s inquiry into business reporting requirements. We recommend that the Commission:

• Note that substantial gaps persist in the telecommunications business reporting framework which weaken the ability of regulators to proactively monitor compliance and take enforcement action.

• Note that wherever reporting requirements are changed, consolidated or simplified, the information available to consumers should be maintained or improved.

• Note that thresholds for non-financial reporting requirements should remain consistent between small and large telecommunications providers to preserve business transparency and accountability.
