ACCAN recently submitted to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s (ACCC) Digital Platform Services Inquiry – September 2024 report revisiting general search services issues paper.
ACCAN called for:
Consumer representation to be adequately funded to properly engage with emerging issues facing Australian consumers on digital platforms.
The establishment of a digital platforms ombuds scheme before the end of 2024.
The introduction of consumer protection measures outlined by the ACCC in the Treasury’s 2023 consultation.
The introduction of competition measures outlined by the ACCC in the Treasury’s 2023 consultation.
